Every lady needs a little sparkle in her life. In fact, we believe that if you don’t blind at least one person with your outfit each day then you have failed. Naturally, this week’s challenge is about things that bling.

Was I inspired by Jackie wearing brooches or did the urge to buy these come from a darker competitive place? Hmmmmm…I think we know the answer to that.
This garage sale was held by the daughters and daughter-in-law for the mother who was moving in with one of them and needed to downsize. Thinking of this family just reminds of how Jackie has hurt my family but I digress. I almost didn’t go – really! – because it was a Sunday and I felt lazy. Not being a morning person, it’s a challenge every day to get out of bed before the crack of noon.
It’s always interesting to have a little peek into someone’s life by what they are selling and chatting with them. The daughters had lived their whole lives in this house and went to the elementary school at the end of the street. It was a pretty emotional time for them with the move and selling things with memories and sentimental value. Imagine if they found out what this jewelry was really worth! I picked these items just because they were pretty and, I’ll admit it, cheap. I honestly had no idea of the value or the make. Sometimes I feel like this. Even now knowing the value, I would feel physical pain paying more than $5 each. That’s money that could be going towards chocolate!
Note: I wanted to share my personal code of conduct regarding these competitions: when they go low, we go high. Apparently, not everyone (meaning Jackie) understands the unspoken policy of not insulting children or pets. Our cat, StarQuiz, is a very important part of our family and one of the loves of my life. My daughters and I were very hurt to see Jackie’s comments in a previous post mocking StarQuiz. So far, we’ve been able to shield StarQuiz from seeing what Jackie said.
Item 2: Vintage English Glass Necklace

First off: I was not mocking StarQuiz. I think it was pretty clear that I was mocking the humans that named him.
But that’s okay, I’m sure Denise was too busy preying on a family in mourning to read my post very carefully.
I mean sure, maybe I only got one glass necklace compared to her bounty of brooches, but at least I didn’t get it by taking advantage of people at their most vulnerable.
It kind of makes you wonder, what else did she help herself to while those poor women were sobbing on her shoulder?
In fact, I think the real question we should be thinking about is what Denise’s true motives are behind keeping a cat?
Just saying, if some local spotted kittens go missing…
